Dear Chip,

Our apologies. We found a typo in the price of the Pelikan Amber 200. It is not $99.95, but actually only $69.95! We apologize for not having the right price on the first email.

Wow! It is almost time to start thinking about the new school season. As with any occasion, a pen is a great addition to the back-to-school list.

We have some great specials at bertramsinkwell.com to get the student in you life off to a great start!

Bert's Corner

Bertram's was able to convince Pelikan to give up 250 of there Amber 200 series fountain pens with 14kt gold nibs. I have most nib grades in stock including EF F M OM B OB BB. These pens write as smooth as silk and with a regular price of $135 I have got them to move at only $69.95!

The nib is the same size as an M-400 with the same flexiblity, but it is not two tone. This pen is a great writer for someone who wants a piston filler without the high price. Montblanc starts at $475.00 for the #146. The Pelikans M-400 is up to $225.00 and even the Lamy 2000 is $145.00

Richard, a customer at out White Flint location, likes his Pelikan Amber 200 so much he bought two! Another customer needed a gift for a friend and ended up buying one for himself and his wife!

The pen is only available in Amber, the latest in the translucent collection. With nearly 150 pieces sold in a short time we will run out quickly.

Call us at 800-782-7680 to take advantage of this awesome limited speial!

We look forward to seeing you in Washington, DC for the show. Dont forget Bertram's cellebrates 20 years at our own pen fair in White Flint on November 5, 2005 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.

The Pen Guru

Jim is our resident pen guru. Jim knows so much about pens he has even been an expert witness in a court case!

Q: How often should I clean my fountain pen, and how do I know when it dirty?
A: I believe it best to clean a Fountain Pen at least once a month i.e. removing all the old ink from the feed and fill system, however if you are using red or green inks in the pen it is probably best to clean it twice a month. As to knowing when it's dirty, reduction in the quality of writing is a good indication, dried ink on the feed and or nib would be another. Remember to let the pen dry before refilling, water and ink do not mix well.
